I am finally home from the holidays!
It has been a whirlwind of a holiday season and I have been on full blown vacation mode for the last few weeks.
My son and I flew out to Toronto over Christmas to spend a week with boyfriend’s family. It was our first time in Toronto, and consequently, the first-time meeting boyfriend’s family.
Though the usual apprehension that comes with meeting your boyfriend’s mom was minorly in my mind, our visit was beyond lovely. My boy and I were so warmly welcomed, we felt right at home.
We did some touring of boyfriend’s old haunts, visited some of his extended family and friends, and even took in a show. And on Christmas eve, we celebrated our two-year anniversary. We were so busy and well fed the whole trip, that it was hard to leave.
When we did land back down in Thunder Bay, we were headed out to Geraldton to meet my son’s dad and his mom for Christmas lunch. Yet upon arrival, in true fashion, the restaurant my ex had picked was closed. The secondary choice was no longer operating, but the third choice was a go. Christmas lunch with dad at a Chinese buffet.
The drive home the next day took over 11 hours; and upon my return home at 2 am, we were locked out. I had to wake up my house sitter in the middle of the night.
When I did finally tuck in for bed at 3, my mother had flooded my phone with texts about a trip to Winnipeg to do Christmas with my grandmother and sisters. Despite being exhausted and ready for a break from my vacation, we left for Winnipeg the following day.
There we spent three days playing in our hotel pool, having family dinners, and seeing the new Puss and Boots movie. Phenomenal!
I am now finally home and sitting in my home office atop my bed. Going through piles of catch-up work that has backed up in my absence. I’ve also kept my son home from school today to enjoy some down time before getting back to it.
So yes, our holidays were very busy, but also very lovely. We got to spend time with many different branches of family and have lots of fun along the way.
I am ready to get back into the swing of things now. I’m ready to get back into the habit of working and making dinners and just settling back into my home life with my boy. We are both exhausted.
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays too!
