Notice of Submission of Final Environmental Impact Statement / Environmental Assessment

First Mining Gold has completed and filed the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Assessment (EIS/EA) for the Springpole Gold Project. The proposed Project involves the development, construction, operation and closure of an open pit gold and silver mine and any associated facilities and ancillary activities. The main components of the Project are an open pit, dikes, a co-disposal facility for mine rock and tailings, a process plant, water management and treatment facilities, aggregate operations, a transmission line and a mine access road. The Project is located in an underserviced area northwestern Ontario, approximately 110 km northeast of the Municipality of Red Lake, 140 km north of Sioux Lookout, and 105 km northeast of Ear Falls, and will generate over 600 jobs during construction and 350 jobs during operations, along with economic opportunities across the region.

As required under section 17.7(1) of the Environmental Assessment Act and according to the amended terms of reference approved by the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks on November 8, 2021, First Mining Gold has submitted its EIS/EA to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) for review and approval. The EIS/EA has been prepared as a single document to also meet the federal requirements under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 and has been submitted to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada for review and approval.
