DRYDEN — A British Columbia man faces multiple weapons-related charges after a recent incident in the Dryden area.
Ontario Provincial Police said officers from the Sioux Lookout detachment observed a vehicle being driven unsafely on Highway 17 at 4:00 a.m. on Feb. 9.
When the driver failed to stop, the Dryden detachment was notified to be on the lookout for his vehicle, and it was subsequently located in the vicinity of Wabigoon.
Officers were then able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.
A search turned up a loaded gun, and a records check showed the driver was wanted on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant.
The 73-year-old Vancouver-area man is charged with flight from police, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
