Arner, Northey running for Green Party

Both candidates have run for the party in the past in Thunder Bay.

THUNDER BAY -- The Green Party of Ontario has confirmed it has selected its candidates to run in Thunder Bay-Atikokan and Thunder Bay-Superior North in the upcoming provincial election. 

Eric Arner will represent the party for second straight election in Thunder Bay-Atikokan. 

Arner finished fourth in the 2022 vote, collecting 781 votes, or 2.94 per cent of the total tally. 

John Northey will carry the party's banner in Thunder Bay-Superior North. Northey ran for the Green Party in Thunder Bay-Atikokan in the 2014 and 2018 provincial elections, finishing fourth three years ago, with 880 votes, or 2.71 per cent of the vote. In 2014 he was also fourth, with 3.37 per cent of the total votes cast. 

In Thunder Bay-Superior North, Northey will be up against incumbent Lise Vaugeois of the NDP, first-time Liberal hopeful Brian Hamilton and Conservative Rick Dumas. 

In Thunder Bay-Atikokan, Arner will face off against incumbent Kevin Holland of the Conservatives, the NDP's Judith Monteith-Farrell and Liberal Stephen Margarit.
