ATIKOKAN – A 42-year-old man faces a number of charges after an alleged armed robbery in Atikokan.

OPP say they responded on March 16, at about 2 a.m., to a reported break-and-enter incident at a Maple Crescent address.

Officers, through interviews with a number of individuals, determined that a male had allegedly broken into the home with a weapon, leading to an altercation that resulted in minor injuries.

The 42-year-old Atikokan man is facing eleven charges, including armed robbery, assault and two counts of uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

He is also charged with possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, as well as two counts each of assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm.

The accused was released and is scheduled to be back in court in Atikokan on May 4.

It is Newswatch policy not to name suspects when it is unlikely we will follow the case through to its conclusion in court.
