THUNDER BAY – Ontario’s Catholic teachers will vote on a possible strike mandate in October.
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association announced Monday evening it had scheduled strike votes for Oct. 18 and 19.
The news comes as public school teachers with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation are also weighing strike votes in the coming weeks.
The OECTA said in a statement Monday that after over a year of bargaining, the scope of negotiations had still not been finalized, and accused the provincial government of offering limited negotiating days.
The union said bargaining would continue in advance of the planned strike votes.
