Charge laid in 2023 fatal Ignace crash

A 42 year-old Calgary man has been charged after a 2023 crash that killed a snow plow operator in Ignace.

IGNACE — Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 42 year-old man from Calgary after a 2023 collision between a commercial vehicle and a snow plow.

Police said they've charged Sukhdeep Saran with criminal negligence causing death.

OPP and paramedics were called to the crash on Highway 17 in Ignace on March 17, 2023, shortly before 1 a.m., police said in a press release.

The driver of the snow plow, a 75-year-old from Ignace who police did not name publicly at the time, died at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was reportedly not hurt.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Dryden on March 3 at 9 a.m.
