NORTH SPIRIT LAKE — Nishnawbe Aski police have laid an aggravated assault charge against a 28 year-old North Spirit Lake man after an alleged altercation that reportedly sent another person for treatment in Thunder Bay.
According to a media release issued Thursday afternoon, NAPS officers were called about a reported assault in the evening on Feb. 13 in North Spirit Lake. They were sent to the local clinic, police said, where the victim was receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
Police added that those injuries were significant enough that the person “would need to be transported to Thunder Bay for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.” Police said they are not believed to be life-threatening.
A suspect was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault, police said. He was released with conditions and a future court date after a bail hearing on Wednesday.
