SIOUX LOOKOUT — OPP arrested three people over the weekend on multiple charges after a fire which police say was set deliberately.

It happened Friday night in an apartment complex in Sioux Lookout, forcing the occupants of 17 units to leave because of extensive smoke and water damage.

No one was reported injured.

According to OPP, the quick actions of a neighbour resulted in the fire being extinguished quickly.

Sioux Lookout firefighters also responded to the call.

Following an investigation, three men were charged and held in custody pending an appearance in Kenora bail court Monday.

Charges include arson, arson with disregard for human life, breaking and entering, and mischief over $5,000.

Two of the accused are also charged with wearing a disguise with intent.

The displaced tenants have been assisted by Ahshawah Bin Victim Support Services and the Red Cross.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion through the courts.
