The new Whitecap Pavilion on Kenora’s waterfront has been one of the building blocks in the transformation of the local economy from milltown to full-fledged resort community.

KENORA: The Lake of the Woods may have crested, but the water is still too high on the smaller island surrounding the City of Kenora.

After a few months of uncertainty, Coneyfest, Coney Island’s annual summer festival, will be moving inland to Winkler Harbourfront Park under the White Cap Pavilion.

“With current conditions resulting from high waters on Lake of the Woods, lack of any substantial beach on Coney Island, a field that is saturated in water and thus a concern for public safety and general enjoyment, we have decided to move to the mainland this year”, said Ferg Devins Co-Founder of the festival. “Five acts will perform on the Main stage, side stage performers will be confirmed soon and of course, there will be lots of fun for the kids between sets”.

The day-long festival will be held on Sunday, July 24 from noon to 5 p.m.

“We have our talent booked, our partners in place, our volunteers eager to assist and families from the region and visitors to the area eager to enjoy this event. Thanks to the City of Kenora Events department and Tourism Kenora staff, we are able to access the White Cap Pavilion and stage a festival this year”, said Devins.

2022 main stage lineup:

  • 11:55 a.m. - “Oh Canada”
  • 12 p.m. - Karen Barg and Friends Tribute to Deb Wallace
  • 1 p.m. - Brandi Vezina
  • 2 p.m. - Scott Nolan
  • 3 p.m. - The 22zz
  • 4 p.m. - The Honest Heart Collective

The side stage performers are still to be announced.

More details will follow on the ConeyMusicFest social media accounts and on the website at coneyislandmusicfestival.com.
