FORT FRANCES — Masking and other infection-prevention measures are now required for all visitors on the first-floor in-patient unit of the La Verendrye General Hospital.

Riverside Health Care, which operates the hospital, and the Northwestern Public Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak on Monday. The outbreak is contained to that unit.

Visitation is limited to two people at a time, per patient, and only one patient may be seen during each visit. Visitors are being asked to screen from symptoms as refrain from visiting if symptomatic.

Medical masking is required for all visitors. N95 masks are mandatory for anyone visiting a patient who requires additional precautions or is in isolation.

According to a news release from Riverside Health Care, hospital staff "may also require visitors to wear additional personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the specific situation."

There are no restrictions on hospital services at this time.
