THUNDER BAY - Canadian Wrestling Elite promoter Danny Warren has announced that they will be adding a stop in Fort Frances for the upcoming “The Point to Prove Tour” in March.
Warren stated in a release that the tour “will be the most events the organization has ever hosted” in Northern Ontario.
The wrestling tour will be in Thunder Bay on March 23, Fort Frances on March 24, and Dryden on March 25 to close out the tour.
In addition, Warren also said the CWE will headline World Wrestling Federation & international wrestling legend Savio Vega.
Warren said, “establishing himself as one of the true greats in Puerto Rico with the legendary World Wrestling Council where Savio Vega would hold the organization's Universal Heavyweight Championship on three occasions, Savio Vega would then set his sights on the global stage and the World Wrestling Federation.
“Debuting with the WWF as the infamous masked Kwang, Savio Vega would eventually unmask and compete as himself for many years in many memorable feuds in the company.”
Savio also lays claims to aligning himself with Scott Hall, otherwise known as WWE’s Razor Ramon in the mid-90s. He feuded with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at WrestleMania 12 in a Caribbean Strap match.
In 1997, he became a founding member of the Nation of Domination with WWE legends Faarooq, D’lo Brown, and The Rock, defining the early beginnings of the Attitude Era, which pushed professional wrestling into the mainstream.
This past spring, Vega made a surprise cameo appearance at WWE Backlash 2023's premium live event.
According to Warren, he was slated to tour with CWE in 2020; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, those plans had to be cancelled.
“CWE management is beyond excited to be getting the opportunity again to present wrestling fans the chance to not only meet the true international wrestling legend but see him in action in all nine events,” said Warren.
“We want you to help prove the point that Ontario hosts some of the greatest fans in the country by joining us at the event. We hope you invite your friends in the area, share this on your social media networks, encourage your friends to do the same and keep the tours across the province growing.”
