Driver charged after vehicle destroyed in Highway 17 collision

The driver of a pickup truck was charged with careless driving and attempting to pass when there's approaching traffic.

DRYDEN — Ontario Provincial Police say the driver of a pickup truck was lucky to suffer only minor injuries after a serious collision on the Trans-Canada Highway early Wednesday morning.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

A photo posted by OPP shows the front of the vehicle was demolished when it collided with a transport truck on Highway 17.

The accident occurred just after midnight in Machin Township.

Police have charged the 21-year-old driver of the pickup, who's from Brampton, with careless driving and attempting to pass when the roadway is not clear of approaching traffic.
