FORT FRANCES — OPP have laid multiple charges after discovering a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle on Highway 11 east of Fort Frances.

Police were dispatched to the Bears Pass Bridge on Saturday following a call from a member of the public.

They found a 36-year-old resident of Couchiching First Nation in the driver's seat, with drugs in plain sight inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search turned up a large quantity of various controlled substances including pills, powders and capsules, along with what police described as a significant amount of cash.

The man was charged with possession for trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug.

According to OPP, the accused was already out on bail for previous charges related to drug trafficking.

He was held in custody at the Fort Frances detachment pending a new bail hearing.
