DRYDEN — Three people were arrested during a traffic stop in Machin.
On the evening of July 25, officers with the Dryden OPP detachment were conducting a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Machin and identified a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
The Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began investigating the three occupants of the car at the time of the stop.
The investigation resulted in a search of the vehicle, in which police found suspected illicit drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, hydromorphone, and morphine, as well as other drug paraphernalia.
As a result, a 33-year-old from Fort Severn First Nation was charged with drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a dangerous purpose, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
A 29-year-old from Dryden was charged with drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a dangerous purpose.
A 29-year-old from Machin was charged with drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with a release order.
One accused was released with a promise to appear before the court in August.
The other two accused have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the court on July 31 and Aug. 2.
