DRYDEN — Police have laid several drug trafficking charges against a local woman and a Toronto teenager following an investigation in Dryden.
OPP officers executed a search warrant on a residence on Mary Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The OPP’s community street crime unit led the investigation with assistance from the Red Lake OPP and Dryden’s local detachment.
The warrant led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Dryden resident and a 17-year-old from Toronto, following the seizure of what police suspect to be cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphone and oxycodone, as well as over $51,000 in Canadian currency and further evidence of drug trafficking.
Both accused were charged with four counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of over $5000 of criminally-obtained property.
Police also charged the 17-year-old, who has not been identified, with breach of recognizance.
The accused individuals have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on Friday.
It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
