Dryden man crashes vehicle, charged with impaired driving

PICKLE LAKE – A motor vehicle collision in Pickle Lake has led to an impaired charge being laid against a male driver from Dryden.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Friday night, said they responded to the crash shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 16, the single-vehicle collision occurring on Highway 599, south of Miskeegogamang First Nation.

The 26-year-old accused motorist was charged with operation while impaired, alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, resisting a peace officer and assaulting a police officer.

He also faces a charge of failing to comply with a release order and possession of a Schedule 2 substance for the purpose of trafficking, after officers found suspected methamphetamine.

The accused’s driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle was impounded. He was held for a bail hearing on Friday.
