DRYDEN – Officers with the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police Detachment have arrested and charged a 43-year-old from Wabigoon with impaired driving after a traffic stop on Highway 17.

On Aug. 6, Dryden OPP observed a vehicle travelling erratically.

The officers initiated a traffic stop and determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and was transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment.

In addition to the impaired charge, the driver was charged with having an open container of liquor and failure to surrender a license and an insurance card.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on Sept. 11.

The OPP asks anyone who suspects someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs to call 9-1-1 to report it.
