DRYDEN — Provincial police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old resident after allegedly committing two separate crimes over two days.
On Monday, OPP and the Dryden Fire Service responded to an apartment fire on First Street. Being the first on the scene, OPP was advised by neighbours of seeing smoke from the adjacent building to which the officers quickly evacuated the residents in the apartment building until Firefighters arrived.
During their investigation, Dryden Fire Service determined that two fires were intentionally started by the resident of the apartment unit.
As a result, the resident was arrested and charged with Arson.
However, upon being released on bail on Tuesday, OPP received another call for service from the same First Street apartment complex. A resident informed OPP that they heard someone breaking into the same apartment unit where the fire occurred through a partially broken window.
When arriving on the scene, officers located the 34-year-old in an apartment destroying additional property.
As a result, the 34-year-old was arrested for two counts of failure to comply with undertaking and break and enter to commit an indictable offence.
The accused has been held and will appear in Kenora bail court.
