Extreme cold in effect for parts of the region

NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- Environment Canada warns of a period of very cold wind chills Tuesday morning.

The government weather agency states wind chill values near -40 are expected Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will moderate slightly during the day.

Extreme cold is expected to continue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Sandy Lake - Pikangikum and Pickle Lake - Wunnummin Lake areas can expect wind chill values near -45C with minimum temperatures near -30C.

  • Ignace - English River
  • Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park
  • Upsala - Raith
  • Pikangikum - Poplar Hill - MacDowell
  • Sandy Lake - Weagamow Lake - Deer Lake
  • Pickle Lake - Cat Lake
  • Summer Beaver - Wunnummin Lake - Kingfisher Lake
