Extreme heat likely for Rainy River district areas

Day-time high temperatures are expected to approach 30 C, with humidex values in the mid 30s.

The start of October is bringing a blast of summer-like heat to areas in the Rainy River district.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning on Monday for the Fort Frances, Rainy River and Atikokan areas, with humidex values expected to reach the mid 30s.

Day-time high temperatures are expected to approach 30 C on Monday, with the possibility of reaching similar highs on Tuesday.

The overnight hours are expected to offer little relief, with the lows expected to hover around 20 C.
