Firearms charges laid in Dryden arrest

Police were called to a Mary Avenue residence following a firearms complaint, early Friday morning.

DRYDEN – Police in Dryden have arrested a 26-year-od man following a firearms investigation in the city.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Monday, said they responded on March 21, just after midnight, to a Mary Avenue residence, where an individual was found with non life-threatening injuries.

The person was taken to hospital by EMS.

As a result of the investigation, the 26-year-old accused was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, careless use of a firearm, two counts of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of firearm or ammunition and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and is expected to appear in court in Dryden on Monday to answer to the charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
