FORT FRANCES – Be sure to check your mailboxes because the Municipality of Fort Frances has mailed out the Voter Instruction Letters as of Oct. 3.
Instead of traditional polling stations, Fort Frances offers an alternative voting method for their town by way of online voting through the municipal website and telephone.
To avoid confusion and to help those who don’t have access to the internet or a telephone, Fort Frances also sets up Voter Help Centres.
According to Gabrielle Lecuyer, Municipal Clerk for Fort Frances, “Voter Help Centres are intended for individuals that require access to a voting kiosk or require assistance with the telephone or internet voting process.”
Lecuyer also states that these Voter Help Centres are no different than what you would find at a polling station.
“Voter help centres are also there for general election inquiries as an example: I am not on the voter’s list or I did not receive the Voter Instruction Letter in the mail again similar to a polling station election official are present,” stated Lecuyer. “We are pleased to offer a touring Voter Help Centre in 7 locations and one permanent location at the Civic Centre this election, an increase of 4 locations from the 2018 election.”
When using the Voter Help Centre located at the Town of Fort Frances Civic Centre located at 320 Portage Avenue, Lecuyer advises that the public have the PIN which is included with the Voter Instruction Letter and piece id identification with a date of birth.
If you do not receive your Voter Instruction Letter by October 12th, contact the Municipal Office at 807-274-5323.
The Voter Help Centre will be open during the voting period on the following dates and times:
- On Monday, October 17, between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CT)
- From Tuesday, October 18 to Friday, October 21, 2022, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CT)
- From Monday, October 24, 2022, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CT)
