OPP have charged a Fort Frances driver with numerous offences following a traffic stop in the community.

FORT FRANCES — A 42-year-old Fort Frances woman faces numerous charges after a traffic stop in the community last week.

According to a media release issued on Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police said they stopped what they’re calling a “suspicious vehicle” on March 7 in the 5th Street East area around 7:30 p.m.

The driver allegedly showed signs of impairment and was already suspended, police said.

She’s been charged with impaired driving, driving with open liquor and with cannabis readily available. Police said she also faces charges of driving while suspended, failing to comply with a release order and using a plate not authorized for the vehicle.

On top of the criminal charges, police said she also received a 90 day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court on March 12.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
