Founders Pioneer Village auctions antique cars

For those of you looking for a new car this summer, why not take a trip into the way back machine and purchase something vintage.

OLIVER – PAIPOONGE – After moving from the Duke Hunt Museum to the Founders Museum, the municipality found itself with a stock of vintage surplus items. To generate some extra revenue for the Founder Museum, the council decide to auction some of their antique cars, tractors, and farm equipment that was found in storage.

Wayne Hanchard, CAO/Clerk of Oliver-Paipoonge said that they are hoping to generate $25,000 from the sale and the money could offset some of the operating cost of the Museum.

“There are three primary uses that could be taken. First, it could be put in a reserve for future uses. Another one would be to offset operating expenses. Another one would be to help with capital expenditures for repair and replacement of building at the site,” said Hanchard.

However, that would be up to the council to determine where the money would go.

Right now, the municipality of Oliver -Paipoonge and Founders Pioneer Village is auctioning antique cars through an online auction.

You can get your hands on a vintage 1926-27 Ford Model T, a four-cylinder, a two-door sedan with its original part.

Lot two is a 1927 six-cylinder Dodge Brothers standard six three-window coupe with wooden wheels.

Lot three is a 1931 four-cylinder Plymouth three-window Coupe. It comes with a standard trunk and wire wheels.

Lot four is a 1930-31 four-cylinder Ford Model A Deluxe five-window Coupe with trunk and wire wheels.

“It’s not a live auction. It’s a sealed bid. People can check the materials. They’re all on our website with pictures of the items and bidding instructions and by July 15 interested parties have to submit a bid, said Hanchard.

If you want to take a look at each item before making your online bid, they are all on display at the Founder Pioneer Village right now.

Binding forms can be found on the municipality websites here.
