NORTH SPIRIT LAKE – After a thorough investigation by North Spirit Lake Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) and members of the NAPS Emergency Response Team, officers obtained enough evidence to issue a search at a home on Airport Road which led to the arrest of four individuals for trafficking drugs in the community.
According to a NAPS spokesperson, when police arrived at the scene, the residents had barricaded themselves inside the home and began to destroy evidence.
However, officers were able to breach the barricade and enter the home successfully taking the occupants into custody.
During their search of the home, police seized a quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, oxycodone, cash, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, replica firearms, ammunition and fireworks.
As a result, the four individuals were charged with the following:
A 32-year-old from Prince George, BC
- Three counts of drug trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failure to comply with the release order
- Three counts of obstructing police
- Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
A 30-year-old from Koostatak, MB
- Three counts of drug trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
A 30-year-old from North Spirit Lake, ON
- Three counts of drug trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Three counts of obstructing police
- Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
A 21-year-old from North Spirit Lake, ON
- Three counts of drug trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
All four appeared in bail court on Saturday, Dec. 16. The 21-year-old was released with conditions and a future appearance date. The other three suspects were remanded with future appearance dates.
