The Emo Health Centre is no longer under a gastrointestinal outbreak.

EMO—A gastrointestinal illness outbreak at the Emo Health Centre has been declared over.

The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon in a press release issued by Riverside Health Care, which runs the facility, and the Northwestern Health Unit.

That means all restrictions that were in place on visitors and residents have been lifted.

“Riverside continues to have our detailed safety procedures and infection prevention control practices in place, which are designed to ensure the health and safety of our staff, the community, and those within our care,” the release stated.

The healthcare organizations declared the outbreak on January 4.

The public are still being reminded to take precautions against spreading infection though various measures, including hand-washing, avoiding touching eyes, noses, and mouths, and staying home if sick.
