Update: Situation involving barricaded person in Dryden resolved

DRYDEN – The Dryden Ontario Provincial Police say they have safely apprehended a person who barricaded themselves in their apartment. 

In the early morning, police responded to responded to a call for service at an apartment complex on Duke St..

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, as well as the Canine Unit were deployed to assist Dryden OPP. 

The Dryden OPP took to Facebook to advise the public to avoid the area of Duke Street at Earl Avenue.

“There is currently a heavy police presence in the area of Duke Street at Earl Avenue in Dryden, please avoid the area,” wrote an OPP spokesperson on Facebook.

Police are also advising that “there is no risk to public safety at this time,” but to remain cautious.

After several hours, a 37-year-old individual exited their apartment and they were transported to hospital for further assessment.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

Police have cleared the area around Duke Street in the City of Dryden.
