KAKABEKA FALLS -- Ontario Provincial Police have closed a section of Highway 17, between Sistonens Corner, near Kakabeka Falls, and highway 599 in Ignace.
OPP later announced several other closures, including Highway 11, from Highway 594 in Dryden to Highway 11 in Fort Frances. Highway 11 is also closed from Atikokan to Shabacqua.
Police, in a release issued on Tuesday night, say weather conditions are to blame for the closure. Traffic control is in place and police ask motorists to be careful while driving.
Environment Canada issued a freezing rain alert for the region on Monday.
There is no indication how long the highway will remain closed.
