DRYDEN — Poor conditions on the road forced the closure of a portion of Highway 17 in Northwestern Ontario.

Shortly after 1:30 pm EST Tuesday, the Ministry of Transportation announced the closure of the stretch between Dryden and Vermilion Bay due to weather conditions.

At 3:10 pm, the MTO reported the highway was reopened.

Before the closure, a collision occurred involving six vehicles -- five were commercial trucks and one was a passenger vehicle, according to a message on the Oxdrift Fire Team Facebook page.

Two minor non-life threatening injuries were reported.

Oxdrift Fire as well as the City of Dryden Fire Service have cleared the scene and turned it over to the OPP/MTO.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for parts of the Northwest earlier.

In the Facebook video below, Dryden OPP asked drivers to stay home due to the poor road conditions.

This story was updated to include information about the collision and the Dryden OPP Facebook video.
