Highway 17 remains closed following collision

Police request drivers to refrain from contacting O.P.P. Provincial Communication Centres for road advisory updates or road condition information.

UPSALA – Highway 17 remains closed in the area of English River following a collision between two tractor-trailer units.

On Saturday morning, at 10:30 a.m., the Thunder Bay and Ignace Ontario Provincial Police Detachments were alerted of a collision involving two tractor-trailer units on Highway 17 near the English River area.

There is currently no word on any injuries.

Authorities are currently working to determine the cause of the accident, and police said that OPP Technical Collison Investigators have been called in to assist with the investigation.

The highway is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time.
