DRYDEN – The Dryden Ice Dogs have been the class of the Superior International Junior Hockey League this season.

They continued their dominance on Tuesday night, doubling up the visiting Thunder Bay North Stars 6-3 at Dryden Memorial Arena, snapping their opponent’s five-game winning streak at the same time.

It took a late effort to earn the triumph, however.

Eli Antoine, Payton Hu and Emmanuel Nkombou scored goals in a 3:07 span in the final minute of regulation to break open a 3-3 contest.

Tyler Jordan, Chance Loke and Acoyen Fehr scored for Thunder Bay, who opened a 2-1 lead after one period.

Jordan Wales, Carson Devine had second-period tallies for the Ice Dogs, who took a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

With the win, Dryden improved to 25-5-2, while the North Stars dropped to 20-9-2.

Thunder Bay hosts Kam River on Friday and Saturday night while Dryden is scheduled for a home-and-home series against the Fort Frances Lakers.
