Update: Ignace collision killed three say police

IGNACE — Three people are dead following a transport collision early Thursday morning on Highway 17.

On OPP official has now confirmed that both drivers as well as a passenger died in the crash, which involved two commercial vehicles.

The fatal collision happened just west of Ignace. Emergency crews responded to the call just after after 3:30 a.m. 

The highway was closed for approximately 11 hours, reopening just after 2:30 p.m. according to police.

Police initially reported that at least one person had been killed, the confirmation of the second and third fatalities was made to Dougall Media Friday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the OPP non-emergency number. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers.
