Members of the Fort Frances detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single vehicle collision in the Williams Avenue and East Fifth Street area of town at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 3.

An investigation determined that the driver was impaired by a substance. The driver was transported to the Fort Frances detachment for further investigation.

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on Monday for a bail hearing.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
