FORT FRANCES — A 23-year-old has been charged with animal abuse after police were notified of a dog being physically harmed.

Police said officers received information about the dog being harmed on Aug. 31, and having been left tied outside tied to a tree in the summer heat.

Police have charged the individual with cruelty to animals — unnecessary pain, suffering or injury

The individual was released from custody but is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances in October.
