IRONWOOD, Mich. – It’s been a trying season for the Kenora Islanders.

Mired in a 15-game winless streak, the second-year club finally found the win column, for just the second time this season, doubling up the host Ironwood Lumberjacks 4-2 on Saturday night.

Keestin Danielson, Hayden Seib, Elijah Constant and Tallen Caron scored for the Islanders, who climbed to within two points of the Lumberjacks (3-19-2), who hold down seventh spot in the Superior International Junior Hockey League standings.

Aidan Charron and Marshall Thomas had the Lumberjacks goals.

Kenora’s only other win came on Sept. 28, a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Sioux Lookout Bombers. They’re now 2-18-2.

Thunder Bay 6, Fort Frances 3: Evan Simeoni, Alex Remenda and Tyler Jordan each scored twice to lead the North Stars (14-6-1) past the Lakers (9-8-5) for their third straight win. Jack Wood had a pair for the Lakers in a losing cause.

Sioux Lookout 6, Red Lake 4: Owen Riffel and Sage Roberts scored second-period goals to erase a 3-2 Miners lead and helped the Bombers complete a weekend sweep. Alex Lucas scored a hat trick for Sioux Lookout (15-5-2), giving him 17 goals on the season. Nathan Dunn had a pair for Red Lake (10-9-2), with singles gong to Noah Tenney and Gabe Tanton.
