KENORA – The Kenora District Services Board has announced that Red Lake’s Mayor Fred Mota will take over as chair while previous board chair Barry Baltessen of Lake of the Woods North Unincorporated will assume the role of vice-chair.

Chief administrative officer Henry Wall said Mota will add a fresh voice and perspective to the board with his vast experience as a municipal leader and Baltessen's continued years of knowledge and leadership will push the organization forward.

Wall also thanked the outgoing vice-chair, Mark Sobchuk of Lac Seul Unincorporated, “for his dedication, time, and knowledge in his role.”

Sobchuk will continue to serve as a director on the board.

The KDSB’s next board of directors meeting is on Feb. 15.
