KENORA — The city has launched a business survey, with the results used to plan future economic development activities.
Kenora municipal officials announced the survey on Wednesday, which will start this month and last until October when the results will be gathered and analyzed.
A news release stated the survey will explore how business owners and managers view the city as a place to do business, as well as gather input about opportunities and challenges to identify patterns and themes that the local business community faces.
The city has retained a consulting firm, which will be working with municipal staff to conduct the survey including random participant selection. Local businesses will be contacted between Aug. 30 and Sept. 27 either via phone or email.
Mayor Andrew Poirier said the city is excited about launching the business expansion and retention program.
"This process will provide valuable perspectives of local businesses and clarify needs, obstacles, and opportunities. Businesses, I encourage you to participate in the program when called upon. As champions for a vibrant and prosperous community, your contribution and feedback are important," Poirier said in a statement.
