DRYDEN — A Kenora man has been arrested in a Monday break-and-enter in Dryden that prompted a significant police response.
Officers with the OPP’s Dryden detachment responded to a report of a break-and-enter at a Government Street residents around 2:51 p.m., police reported Tuesday.
Upon arriving, officers learned the suspect had departed the scene and might be in possession of a weapon, the OPP stated.
That prompted a significant police presence in Dryden, with the OPP's canine unit, crisis negotiators, marine unit and other teams involved in a search for the suspect.
Police were able to locate the suspect a short time later at Flat Rock.
A 35-year-old Kenora man was taken into custody around 5:15 p.m., police said, with a canine unit and crisis negotiating team on scene and assisting.
An OPP spokesperson said the force could not comment on whether the man was in possession of a weapon with the investigation ongoing. No one was injured in the course of the arrest, they said.
The man is charged with break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence. The spokesperson did not rule out further charges.
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Tuesday.
