Kenora OPP investigate 9th Street North fire

Police say the fire does not pose any concern for public safety.

KENORA — Officers with the Kenora OPP detachment responded to a fire in a building on 9th Street North in the late evening of Dec. 21.

Police stated the fire appears to have occurred in one of the upstairs units in the rear side of the building, which sustained significant damage.

The OPP found that the other units in the storefront remain largely intact, with some minor smoke and water damage throughout the building.

No injuries have been reported.

At this point, the fire is under investigation by the Kenora OPP detachment.

However, the incident was determined to be non-suspicious and without any concern for public safety.

The OPP said it will continue its investigation to ensure they have all relevant information.

It also reminds people to be mindful if they're plugging things in and if leaving things unattended to keep an eye out.
