PARIS -- Kenora rower Abby Dent is now an Olympic medalist.

The 22-year-old stood on the podium with her women's eights teammates on Saturday as Canada captured a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The rowing events are being held in Vaires-sur-Marne, which is located about 30 kilometres west of Paris.

This is the second straight medal for Canada in the women's eight event at the Summer Olympics. They won the gold medal in Tokyo three years ago.

Dent was making her first-ever appearance at the Olympics. She was named to the team in June.
