FORT FRANCES — A number of familiar faces will be back in the fold for the Fort Frances Lakers for the upcoming Superior International Junior Hockey League campaign.
The team announced that 10 players will rejoin the team for the 2023-24 season.
Among those returning are Trever Sanderson who joined the Lakers mid-season. The forward contributed 17 points in 23 games for the Lakers. Sanderson will take on a leadership role for the upcoming season, the team indicated.
Forward Ryker Watt led the team in scoring last year, registering 24 goals and 19 assists for a 43 points in 48 games played.
Defenceman Josh Greene will provide his skills on the blue line once again. Greene collected six points in 19 games for the Lakers during the 2022-23 season.
Most Improved Player recipient Darnell Kempf will also return to the blue line, along with Jack Wood.
Wood’s adaptability made him a force on the ice, playing both as a forward and defence role. During the playoffs, wood led the Lakers in scoring, posting seven points in five playoff games.
Other returning players are forwards Nolan Rideout, Clark Scaddan, Ian Snooks, and defencemen Branden Boress and Reid Zurkan.
