NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — Another increase for OPP when it comes to calls for service in Northwestern Ontario.

A total of 1,529 calls police responded to last week in the four anchor communities of Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake.

With an almost 20 per cent increase over the week before, officers responded to numerous eTicket occurrences, unwanted persons, police assistance and liquor license control calls.

Out of all the calls for service, a combined total of 367 criminal and Highway Traffic Act charges were laid during the OPP's reporting period for last week.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) was rolled out across the province in 2014, and it is an efficient system for reporting certain minor incidents and crimes.
