RAINY RIVER DISTRICT — Provincial police were active in the community and with calls for service in region last week.

Throughout the Fort Frances and Rainy River area, officers responded to a total of 49 occurrences between March 10 and 16.

Making up 65 per cent of all occurrences, officers issued 32 eTickets to vehicles, which often stem from proactive efforts from officers.

Otherwise, the remaining top reasons for provincial police calls were for property checks (16), police assistance (12), unwanted persons (12) and mental health act calls (11).

The OPP is reminding the public about their online reporting system as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting was rolled out across the province in 2014, and it is an efficient system as a means of reporting certain minor incidents and crimes.
