KENORA -- A man is in stable condition after a serious snowmobile collision in Shoal 39.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Monday night, say they were called to the community, along with Treaty Three Police Service, at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, following reports of a crash on the ice and a seriously injured male.

Community members helped get the victim to emergency medical services, where he received prompt medical attention.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and remind the public that no ice is completely safe and to be prepared when venturing out on lakes, ponds and rivers in the area. They added that anyone venturing out should let someone know their destination and expected time of return.
