Missing youths located by OPP

Both youths were located safe, in good health and were transported to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital for precautionary evaluations.

KENORA – On Wednesday around 10:18 a.m., members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police Detachment received information regarding two youths, a 16-year-old and 14-year-old, that had gone missing from the Experimental Lakes area, approximately 60 kilometers east of Kenora. 

Shortly thereafter, the Kenora OPP engaged the OPP's Emergency Response Team & the OPP Aviation Unit who utilized a helicopter to roam the area.

The ERT team initiated foot and marine patrols, and also utilized a Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS/Drone) and K9 in an attempt to locate the youths.

At around 3:18 p.m., one of the youths was located safe and in good health by the OPP Aviation Unit via helicopter.

As the search continued into Thursday, the ERT team located the second youth safe and in good health around 8:56 a.m.

Both youths were located safe, in good health and were transported to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital for precautionary evaluations.
