Multiple charges laid after traffic stop

After a routine traffic stop by Rainy River District OPP, one individual has arrested on multiple charges including impaired driving and possession of opioids.

FORT FRANCES — A traffic stop led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl and cocaine.

Provincial police officers were in patrol in Fort Frances on the evening of July 14, when a traffic violation was observed from a vehicle travelling on Fifth Street East.

During the traffic stop, officers determined the driver was under suspension and impaired. Officers found drug paraphernalia, along with quantities of suspected fentanyl and cocaine.   

The driver was transported to the Rainy River District OPP detachment for further testing.

Police arrested and charged a 23-year-old from Fort Frances with impaired driving, possession, driving under suspension, and failure to surrender a licence.
