Near miss leads to impaired charge being laid in Dryden

DRYDEN – A near miss collision has earned a Dryden man an impaired driving charge.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Wednesday, said at about 4 p.m. on Feb. 11, officers observed a dangerous maneuver by a motorist, which required an evasive maneuver to avoid a crash.

Police, a short time later, located the vehicle and driver and as the result of the investigation, it was determined the suspect was impaired by alcohol/drug.

A 69-year-old Dryden man was charged with operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration, 80 plus, operation while impaired, alcohol or drugs and dangerous operation.

The man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 15, 2025.
