NESTOR FALLS — Local fire services were called to a structure fire that destroyed a popular restaurant along highway 71, early Thursday morning.
Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Fire Rescue received a call at around 6 a.m. to attend Green's Restaurant and Bar, where flames could be seen overreaching the treetops and heavy smoke hanging in the air.
Residents in the area say it was a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors alike.
One building was heavily damaged by the blaze but no other buildings at Green's Resort were damaged.
Mike Kakaeeway, the fire chief in Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, said the building had been closed for the season, and no one was inside during the fire.
There were no injuries at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
