One arrested after a lengthy police stand-off in Kenora

The Kenora OPP detachment has opened the area of Highway 658 from Dalles Road to Coker Road after a lengthy police stand-off.

KENORA – Shortly before 8 p.m. on May 6, Kenora OPP received a report of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a residence on Snow Drive.

OPP officers were deployed to maintain public safety and investigate the scene.

After a lengthy stand-off with police, one individual has been arrested for firearms-related offences.

Emergency medical services transported the individual to the local hospital for further assessment.

There were no injuries sustained.

According to the OPP Northwest region, the area is no longer cordoned off.

Members of the public can move freely throughout the area again.

A criminal investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
